Starting point for Cindy Schmiedichen's conceptual work is the search for traces. Wandering through certain areas and researching specific spaces the artist finds her raw material: simple, everyday items, materials carelessly left behind, discarded and forgotten things. Her inspiration is the incidental arrangement of these things in their places. Through methods of wrapping, colouring, fragmenting and stacking Cindy Schmiedichen transforms the found materials into artistic objects with a strong reference to location and space. By arranging these within minimalistic object groups she creates remarkable higher structures. The surrounding space influences her object constellations just as much as it is determined itself by their dynamics.
The carefully produced, often delicate object groups feature an unexpected lightness and poetry that is emphasized by their changeability and openness.
